Erasmus and other exchange programs

Useful information for international students bound for the Department of Computer Science of the University of Milan.

The University of Milan offers accommodation for ERASMUS students in a hall of residence according to availability (in shared rooms, 2 beds per room).

Since a limited number of places is available in the halls of residence, the booking rule is: first arrived first served. We advise students to pay attention to deadlines.

Disertation/Thesis

In case students want to include in their LA credits for a thesis, please be aware that we can only sign their Learning Agreement (LA) after they provide us with a document confirming that they secured a teacher here to advise them about the thesis. Without this document to prove the UNIMI teacher's commitment, we are unable to sign their LA. We strongly advise against coming to Milan without completing this essential step.

Erasmus Europe

LLP / Erasmus is the European program supporting university students to spend a study period in any European country. Every year there is a call open to all students of European Universities. Before you apply, please inquire about the destination universities, length of stay and activities to be carried out, consulting Erasmus program calls and websites. To apply follow the instructions given by your home university (restrictions on eligibility may apply at the home university).

Erasmus placement

Erasmus has also a mobility program for placement, which offers students internships in a European country, at public institutions or private companies.

Erasmus students

Carefully follow the step-by-step memorandum on the enrolment procedure at Unimi web-site.

Prepare your Learning Agreement

  • Select the courses you are interested in attending (see the list available in the "Information" tab of this page) and prepare a draft of your Learning Agreement (LA). The list of courses contains the links to the websites of the single courses where you can find the description of the course, the prerequisites and the exam format.
  • Submit your draft of the LA to our Erasmus committee by sending an e-mail to the International Programs Secretary (Ms. Sara Chiurco  erasmus.segreteria@di.unimi.it). In case your reference teacher asks you, you may be requested to send your Transcript of Records.
Only after agreeing with your reference teacher on the list of courses, you can proceed to the next steps.
  • The Computer Science department prefers, whenever possible, to use the online system for managing OLAs called Erasmus Without Paper - EWP (https://ewp-dashboard.eu/login). However, if your university does not use this service you can send by email the pdf of the LA.
Ask your Sending Institution for the approval of your Learning Agreement, via EWP or via pdf by email.
  • If your Learning Agreement is approved, via EWP the Erasmus commission of the Computer Science department will approve your LA, otherwise send your approved LA by email to erasmus.segreteria@di.unimi.it or your assigned reference teacher.

Before leaving home

  • Make sure that your University has informed the Erasmus Office in due time about your arrival at the University of Milan
